Making Choices; Swarthmore's Information & Advice Service - helping you to make the right choice

 

As a member of the NextStep partnership, Swarthmore aims to provide impartial, high-quality information and advice about learning and progression opportunities both within the centre and in the wider local community.

Learning opportunities



  • Confidential interviews with well trained and qualified workers
  • Information workers to help you find relevant information on training courses or further study
  • Verbal and printed information available from Reception about Swarthmore courses
  • Signposting or referrals to other agencies who might be able to help you further

Support for job search



  • Free Internet access to web sites providing information on career choices, qualifications required and job vacancies
  • Printed information on a range of job opportunities as provided by local voluntary and community sector organisations
  • Access to Adult Directions careers software
  • Support with preparing a CV, letter of application or completing an application form
  • Signposting or referrals to other agencies who might be able to help you further

We have 2 main areas where you can access information and advice:

Reception

  • Verbal and printed information about Swarthmore courses
  • Book an appointment with our Education Advice Worker

Information Access Point in the coffee bar (including community notice boards)

  • A wide range of local learning and job opportunities
  • Information about local events & activities
  • Range of local volunteering opportunities
