When you find the course you can download a copy of the enrolment form which can printed off & used to enrol by post. Enrolment is on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and fees should be paid in advance. Places cannot be reserved without some payment. Some courses fill up quickly so you are strongly advised to enrol early to avoid disappointment.
Please enrol as soon as possible and at least 2 weeks before your chosen course is due to start. Courses will be cancelled unless a minimum enrolment is achieved in advance.

Why are some courses cheaper?
Courses prefixed ‘L’ are subsidised by Leeds City Council.
Courses prefixed ‘F’ are subsidised by the Learning and Skills Council.
Concessions
If you are claiming a concession, you must enclose proof of status or bring it with you when you enrol
A Rate for people in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit, Working Tax Credit (award notice required) or other means tested enefits or their unwaged dependants.
Proof required: Benefit book, DHSS letter, Tax Credit award notice, Giro cheque, bank statement.
B Rate Retired and in receipt of state pension, full time students or people in receipt of Disability Allowance who do not qualify for the ‘A’ Rate.
Proof required: Pension book or benefit letter, bank statement, NUS card.
Membership Fee
Swarthmore is a not-for-profit Registered Charity. All students pay an annual membership fee which entitles you to join in the running of the Centre, vote at our Annual General Meeting and be elected to our managing body. All courses including free courses require this membership fee (except activities of less than 9 hours or where it is states that ‘no membership fee is required’)
How Can I Pay?

- Debit Card – not Electron
- Postal Order
- Cheque – (payable to "Swarthmore Centre") with the cheque card number and expiry date.
Can I pay course fees by Instalments? For courses of 15 weeks or longer that have course fees over £30 you can pay by instalments providing that you issue post-dated cheques or credit card slips.
If you withdraw from your course outstanding fees will still have to be paid
For 30 week courses: you may pay in three instalments – 50% on enrolment and two 25% payments (at the latest) by 1 October and 1 December.
For 15 or 20 week courses: you may pay in two instalments – 50% on enrolment and the final 50% payment by (at the latest) 1 October.
What if I have difficulty paying? Instalment arrangements can be made or you can make a confidential appointment to talk to the Finance Manager if you have difficulty in paying
Refunds
You may claim a refund for fees (including childcare) and membership before the second meeting of the course after enrolment. Refunds requested after the second meeting of the course will only be considered where attendance has to be discontinued on medical grounds (a doctor’s note is required). With these refunds, a proportionate charge will be made between the date of enrolment and the date of your claim. The membership fee is not refundable and an administration charge of £20 will made.
