Computing at Swarthmore

A small, friendly programme of workshops and courses to suit your level and interests. From non-scary short courses for complete beginners, to full level 2 qualifications, plus a host of interest-based courses, there's something for everyone.

ENTRY LEVEL - Beginners

This course is a great place to start if you're feeling a bit nervous. Learn about computer systems, how to create documents and present information, and how to find and share information using the Internet and email.

LEVEL 1 - Moving on

All Level 1 computer courses will work towards a qualification called the ITQ. The ITQ is made up of different units for you to choose from. Some of the options on offer include word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet & email, artwork & images, creating websites and presentations. Each unit has a 'credit value'. You will get a certificate for each unit you achieve, and if you gain 9 credits you will achieve a Level 1 ITQ Award in IT User Skills.

LEVEL 2 - Intermediate

All Level 2 computer courses will work towards a qualification called the ITQ.
The ITQ is made up of different units - one mandatory unit and some optional units. You will discuss which optional units you want to do with your tutor.
Each unit has a 'credit value'. You need 16 credits to achieve a full ITQ2.
