What activities will I take part in and how will my course be structured?

The course is run over a period of ten weeks in a friendly supportive environment. All learners will be given instruction from the class tutor and encouraged to share their ideas with fellow learners in class discussions and to give and receive feedback.

What will be expected of me in terms of personal or time commitment?

Your tutor will continually assess your progress to ensure that you are getting the most out of the course. At the end of each lesson you will have the chance to participate in class discussions and give feedback. Each week you must fill out a weekly log which will state what you have been taught and what you have learnt, these logs, together with your self-assessment forms will ensure that you are reaching the course aims and your own personal goals

How will my learning be assessed and reviewed?

There are a variety of arts & Health and well being courses at the centre. Your tutor and discuss these further with you or you can make an appointment with our student adviser.

What could I go on to do after I have finished the course?

At the end of the course you will be asked to kindly fill out a simple feedback form. Your course tutor is available for you to talk to during class. However, if there is a matter of concern and you would like to talk to someone about a confidential matter then appointments can be made at reception to see a manager or speak to our student adviser.

Course Funding

Swarthmore provides a variety of courses some of which are subsidised by public funding.

Courses with course codes marked by ‘LCC’ and ‘CityC’ are subsidised and have age restrictions.

  • ‘LCC’ and ‘CityC’ courses for those aged 19 and over.
  • ‘LCC’ courses are supported by Leeds City Council for Leeds Metropolitan area residents, priority given to those living in disadvantaged areas, people not in employment and/or in receipt of benefits, those with low skills, no qualifications, disadvantaged groups or individuals with specific needs e.g. lone parents, BAME groups, adults with LDD.
