Exercise course incorporating Pilates, balance, coordination, core stability and strength exercises. Standing, seated and mat work using simple equipment is involved.

Course description in brief
Using the basic principles of Pilates to; •Learn how to move efficiently in everyday life. •Take measures to move safely to avoid injury. •Complete a series of exercises with varying difficulty, modifications and adaptations. •Improve posture, strength, mobility and flexibility.
By the end of the course I will have learned:
How to move efficiently stretches and exercises to practice at home. The principles of Pilates.
Do I need any skills, experience or qualifications before I join the course?
No prior experience or qualifications are needed.
What equipment will I need for the course?
A Pen to write down some notes and some comfortable clothes you can move around in.
What materials will I need for the course?
What activities will I take part in and how will my course be structured?
We usually do an hour of movement based on Pilates and then around 30 minutes to discuss and record what we’ve learnt.
What will be expected of me in terms of personal or time commitment?
We expect regular attendance to help you become part of the group more easily and see changes in your movement patterns and posture. We expect everyone to be friendly and tolerant of each other as well as being open to learning new information
How will my learning be assessed and reviewed?
There will be initial personal goal setting, a mid course review with the tutor and a group evaluation and review at the end of every 10 weeks.

- ‘F’: courses are accredited and are funded by the ‘Skills Funding Agency’ for those aged 16 and over.
- ‘L’ & ‘N’ courses for those aged 19 and over.
- ‘L’ courses are supported by Leeds City Council for Leeds Metropolitan area residents, priority given to those living in disadvantaged areas, people not in employment and/or in receipt of benefits, those with low skills, no qualifications, disadvantaged groups or individuals with specific needs e.g. lone parents, BAME groups, adults with LDD.
