Study Programme
Swarthmore Study Programme is for young people ages 16-25 who have additional support needs and an EHCP.
The Programme offers the opportunity for individualised, flexible learning plans.
Who are we?
We are Government funded and form part of the Local Authority’s post 16 offer to young people.
We focus on providing a general education and utilise a broad range of learning opportunities to improve English and maths skills, with the aim of preparing our students for employment or further training.
The provision promotes the development of ‘independence skills’, e.g. travel training and decision making.
Parents & Carers
-
The Study Programme has its own admissions process. We do not accept students on the basis of their EHCP alone. The first step is to contact [email protected] and ask to arrange a visit.
During the visit, we will introduce you to our way of working, our teachers and other students. We will ask you about your needs and what you would like to achieve during your time with us.
We do not expect you to decide whether you would like to attend the Study Programme on the day.

The following organisations can offer help to young people with additional needs, their parents, and carers.

We teach a huge range of subjects.
Internship
Young people who are nearing the end of their time in education can join our supported internship programme. Internships concentrate more heavily on work experience, independence skills and applying for jobs, further or higher education, or volunteering.
Otters
The Otters provision is designed to meet the needs of young people whose medical, psychological, or neurological conditions have prevented them from gaining access to mainstream education.
